Mentoring services by Marianne Taylor / Her Lovely Heart.

Do you feel like you're always hustling, always working away, and yet not seeing the results you are after? You can't quite pinpoint whether it's your branding that doesn't set you apart, or whether you are just not built for the loudness of the market around you. All you know is that you have the passion, and you have the work ethic, but there's a fog that doesn't quite let you see the road ahead. Most of the time, it simply means a strategy for reaching your goals is missing. And sometimes, especially if you've been at this for a while, it could simply be that the changes in your industry have left you feeling like you're falling behind. I'm here to help you with that.

What is it:

One of my super powers is identifying weaknesses and opportunities in other creative businesses. I offer 1-2-1 mentoring sessions, where we'll focus on figuring out a strategy and action steps for your business. We'll lift the fog and get you moving forward with purpose. Mentoring hours are usually conducted via Skype, so it doesn't matter if you are not physically based in the UK.

Who I work with:

I work with photographers and artist entrepreneurs to help build a strategy that lets them leverage their personal style and personality. I specialise in assisting quiet creative small business owners on how to attract their ideal clients, create an authentic brand, give their creative business an engaging online presence, and help them identify the best ways to market their services.

While most who find me are photographers, my clients also include painters, designers and other creators seeking support on their entrepreneurial journey.

Mentoring with Marianne is a good fit for you if:

  • you’re a photographer wanting to run a business that keeps your soul happy
  • you’ve been an entrepreneur for a while but find the new pace of business and loudness of marketing challenging
  • you’re an artist who struggles with the practical aspects of business and self-promotion
  • you’re an introverted creative wanting to get your voice heard in an exceedingly loud market
  • you want to stay inspired, motivated and fulfilled while running a profitable business as an artist
  • and most importantly, if you are feeling dispirited about your business and want support from someone who can make you feel fired up and focused

‘My mentoring with Marianne was life changing. I’m really not overstating this. I’m far more in control, far more focused, far less stressed out. I’m going in the right direction now, feeling inspired and excited by my future. I work less and charge more, my clients are really excited about working with me, and I love the work I am doing, which feels so great. I am still the same photographer but I am now presenting myself in a far more attractive and focused way. Marianne has guided me to become the best I can be, and to be excited about pushing myself further. I really feel like it’s onwards and upwards and it really is all thanks to Marianne’s incredible business knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit. She will open your eyes to things you had never thought of doing and will do it in the most patient, generous, passionate and kindest way imaginable. I seriously can’t imagine my life now the way it was before I met Marianne… Coming across Marianne really was the best thing to happen to my business and in turn, this has filtered down and breathed new positivity into every other area of my life. What more could you ask for?’

Kind words.

'I first met Marianne when I attended one of her photography workshops, so I knew the kind of knowledge she had and how lovely and approachable she was. When my business was at a bit of a changing point, I decided to undertake the Mentor Me programme with Marianne. I was at a point of needing some guidance, some new ideas and someone to help me get clarity on the direction to take things. From the start Marianne was wonderful. It was like chatting to a friend, but a friend who is really clued up in business, is super creative and has so much to share. After picking her brains and getting a lot of guidance and amazing advice, I now feel much more confident and ready to take some pretty big steps. I would definitely recommend her as a mentor and I would have no doubt about booking another programme in the future.'

'We realised that Marianne offers one on one mentoring, and because we love her work, we decided to give it a try. It was the best decision we could ever have made! Marianne agreed to do our Mentor Me programme as one intensive 4-hour session, during which we went through re-evaluating the foundations of our business, before focusing on our specific questions. Our discussion gave us so much new hope for the future! We also found the Target Client Persona Workbook and the Business Plan Refresh course (included within The Breakfast Club) to be invaluable for us. When we finished the course we both agreed on which changes our business needed. We decided to build a new website from scratch, and totally overhauled all our website copy. Thanks to Marianne we now have a website which we love and we can already see that the type of people who enquire about our services has changed and we’re finally getting into the position which we always dreamed of. We can’t wait to finally shoot for our dream couples! Whether you struggle with the business part, your craft, or just want to get new ideas we would definitely recommend mentoring with Marianne. We’re forever grateful to her and can’t thank her enough!'

'Firstly, WOW, I came away from my first mentoring session with lots of mixed feelings, and questions going round in my head. It was quite an incredible session we spent together with Marianne and the true effects were being felt long after. It left me questioning, should I even be doing photography, should I be looking for a new job? I went through a low period, not knowing myself or even why I was doing what I was doing. But then I began to look inwards (like Marianne told me) and suddenly it was like a spark had been lit, something creative in me which hadn't been alive for a long, long time. And it made me realise how jaded I had become with the whole wedding thing. I started wanting to shoot things creatively just for me. And I just feel like my focus has shifted massively. I've got a much clearer vision of where I'm heading and the audience I want to work with and most importantly not to measure my success against others. It's been like a re-boot and I've developed a love of creativity again after being stale for so long. Marianne has helped me step back and look for inspiration in different places which has all gone towards helping me feel refreshed and ready to move my business on.'

‘After 3 years in business I felt I had reached a stage where I wanted specific advice about how to take it to the next level. When I saw Marianne had started to offer 1-2-1 Intesives I jumped at the chance, as she is quite possibly the most successful wedding photographer I know of, as well as being someone really approachable and generally nice! I wanted to get a better grasp of marketing, customer service and all the other things Marianne excels at. Marianne raised core topics I had not previously considered. The session was really inspirational and I came away with a renewed lease of life. My favourite part of the day was a freeform Q&A session, it was hugely refreshing. It was so interesting to hear her take on 'the business' – to hear views that I had not ever considered or read elsewhere on internet forums. Ideas that, for me were 'a given', she provided an alternative view that made me rethink how I work as a business and how I attract new couples. Having Marianne's opinion forced me to reconsider givens and explore new, cleverer ways of working.’

'Before coming to see Marianne for a one to one session I was feeling a little lost with my wedding photography business, but spending some time with her talking about marketing and myself and the business, I felt invigorated about the prospect of carrying on and improving my business. Marianne enabled me to hone in on what I wanted the business to be, and who I am within it, and gave me the courage to press ahead with new branding and a new website, which I'm now really proud of.'

‘Learning far better in a personal setting, I visited Marianne at her home for a 1-2-1 mentoring session. It was so lovely to meet Marianne in person, having been a fan of her work for a long time. Meeting her gave me a better insight on her personality and how it translates into her work. The session gave a lovely glimpse into how she makes people feel at ease, and gets clients to see her vision. Marianne catered the session to fit my needs and that was a real bonus. Having been in the industry for a little while, it was nice to interact with someone who has been doing it for a lot longer. I am a firm believer that you can always learn something new – you just have to be open. I am glad I met Marianne as there were some key points I took away from our day together that have helped me to greatly enhance my client experience with my own brides and grooms.’

Jesh de Rox
'Marianne is excellent at seeing potential structure in disparate objects and assembling ideas into cohesive forms. She has a strong analytical, intelligent, methodical thought process, balanced with a high capacity for feeling. The two are classically opposite and it's rare to see them both wielded in the way she does.'

Chloe Browne
‘Marianne has been a huge inspiration to me since the very beginning of my career. Not only does she see the world beautifully and effortlessly convey that through her photography, but she has an incredible way of staying zen amidst the sometimes chaotic frenzy that ensues when you run your own business. Marianne has given me so much invaluable advice over the years, from streamlining business practises, to learning how to grow emotionally and professionally as a self-employed person. I owe a lot of my current perspective and success to her insight and continued encouragement.’
