Palm Springs kind of sneaked up on me. The first time I visited, two years ago, it was hellishly hot and came across as a bit weird and artificial, and yet, there was a certain magic that took hold and has made me return twice since then. This time I got to return to the uh-mazing Parker Palm Springs where this year's Adventure Always conference took place. My days were made up of listening to inspiring speakers, working on some Her Lovely Heart projects, and taking time out where I could just enjoy the surroundings and the warmth, and hang out with friends. It's a funny thing, a ‘working holiday', and it certainly takes some practice to get it right so that you enjoy all the bits you want to enjoy, but are effective where you need to be. (Our guest blogger Emily shared some great tips about how to run a business whilst travelling just last week.)
We landed in LA in the afternoon, but after getting stuck queueing for our rental, and then sitting for hours in the Friday rush hour LA traffic, we didn't arrive in Palm Springs until after sundown and pretty much crashed right away. Waking up to the palm trees the next morning was just the loveliest thing.
The most photographed door in Palm Springs? Well, it's worth it!
On our first day we drove to investigate the living desert in Joshua Tree national park.
Some of the things I collected from Joshua Tree.
Blue skies, palm trees, pools and bright colours are what Palm Springs is made of. I adore the Alphabet Bags phone case, which looked delicious with my ‘California nails' and new Kate Spade wallet. I also brought my trusty swimsuit pouch.
I went with gold accessories for a friend's birthday party. After being more in the silver camp for most of my life, I'm lately falling pretty hard for gold. Maybe it's an age thing? :D
Florence was trying to ‘model' with some of the lovely things Alphabet Bags sent along for my travels. Lots of laughter ensued.
This ‘Hooray for Sunshine' bag from Alphabet Bags was perfect for Palm Springs! And perhaps for packing some sunshine to take home with…
I carried my laptop around in this large pouch, when it wasn't used for travel documents.
I had an idea for this image, and I set it up for my husband to take. It took hours. I'm surprised we're still together after the experience, but I do like the end result!
That's our window on the left. I got to witness a wedding just outside, too. It was kind of surreal to watch a wedding take place and not be down there working!
Emails by the pool. There are worse things…
Flo. Love this lady.
Returning to cold and grey England has been quite hard. It took me forever to get over the jet lag, and the cold that followed. I'm only now starting to feel a bit more ‘normal', but oh boy do these images want to make me get back to Palm Springs as soon as possible!
